Sometimes you just get lucky. Nobody stomped the castle after the first day building and the overnight tide left a smooth, hard cap of sand around the west side. Wanting to incorporate the nice contrast between the smooth and rough I started adding to the castle on the other side.
All went well until we got an afternoon thunderstorm with very heavy rain. A good time for a nap. The rain left a pebbled finish to all of the castle except the smooth sand from the tide. It’s always a dance and often the best thing you can do is let nature lead.
The sunset and a great dinner with my family capped off another good day.
It was also my birthday.
